OCHS - OUP launch Hindu Studies Journal

Journal of Hindu Studies
Journal of Hindu Studies
3 November 2008 sees the official launch of the Journal of Hindu Studies at the American Academy of Religion Conference in Chicago.

The Journal is a joint venture between the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies and Oxford University Press.

According to the Journal's editor and OCHS Academic Director, Prof. Gavin Flood, 'Religion has become centre stage in public discourse, closely linked to cultural or identity politics, and now perhaps more than at any other time in recent history, there is a need for critical evaluation and discussion. This Journal is intended to provide such a forum for Hindu Studies.'

The Journal will publish twice yearly with one issue following a theme and the other having a more general approach.

This partnership with OUP is a significant addition to the OCHS's publishing strategy and complements the book publishing partnership with Routledge. As the Journal's Managing Editor, OCHS Academic Administrator Dr Jessica Frazier noted: 'The Centre has been the home of a lot of excellent scholarship. Being able to provide such a prestigious publishing opportunity allows us to add immense value and exposure to this work.'
