£18m Endowment Fund Campaign

The OCHS Endowment Fund Campaign is about generating funds to secure the financial future of the Centre.

The Endowment Fund is due to be launched in 2008 and will seek to achieve complete financial secutiry for the OCHS through securing significant support to the level of around £18m (eighteen million pounds).

This will then cover the ongoing costs of running the Centre and meeting it's aims..

OCHS Libraries

Oxford has over one hundred libraries. These include major research libraries, libraries attached to the faculties, departments and other institutions of the University, and college libraries. The University's Library Services has a combined holding of over 10 million items - this forms the largest academic collection in the UK, and second only in size to the British Library.

The OCHS library is now a part of this wonderful resource. We need to expand our present collection by acquiring more books covering a range of subjects and employing a qualified worker to catalogue the collection. This is important as students from various faculties, including Theology, Oriental Studies, Politics, History and Anthropology regularly use the library.

Hindu Student Accommodation

Many of the students attached to our Centre are practicing Hindus and suitable accommodation can be a big issue for them; in terms of a vegetarian kitchen, quiet evenings, early mornings, sadhana practice etc. Due to generous donations we have been able to facilitate six students per year in an exclusively 'Hindu' student house, thus facilitating their peaceful study in Oxford and their faith needs.

We want to develop this unique facility and appeal for persons and organisations to consider contributing to this important campaign. By providing subsidised housing suitable to their needs we help lower students costs while improving the atmosphere for their studies.
