Ka-Kin is working towards a D.Phil. in Social and Cultural Anthropology. His research interests currently focus on two disparate yet interrelated topics. The first includes a longitudinal ethnographic study of Sikhs in Hong Kong.
His second research topic relates to Indian textile traders in China.
